Pole-position Saarland expres in bundesliga

Stefan Galla, one of the stars in the first bundesliga weekend

ELVERSBERG - The Saarland express wit hits leader Frédéric Caudron and second man Ruben Legazpi is the first leader in the bundesliga in this new season. BC Elversberg won the first two matches in the double weekend, on Saturday against GT Buer and on Sunday against Bottrop. The team gathered, like BC Munich, the maximum four points and has a small lead on the teams in the subtop. Caudron had a tough opposition from Stefan Galla, who could follow the Belgian until the end, but narrowly lost 40-38 in 22 innings.

Ruben Legazpi, for the second year in the team of the leader, started with the best match of the weekend. The Spaniard defeated Markus Galla 40-19 in 16 innings. On Sunday, Jef Philipoom played on position one instead of Caudron and took Elversberg a 6-2 win over Bottrop. Only Dustin Jäschke surprised with a nice win against Ruben Legazpi 40-34 in 29 innings.

The encounter between the top three teams last year, BC Munich and BC Magdeburg, ended in a 5-3 win for Munich. Lütfi Cenet and Dion Nelin shared the points in 35 innings. Markus Schönhoff lost to Kostas Papakonstantinou by one carom.

BC Munich won the nek-to-nek race with BCC Witten on Sunday, 5-3 thanks tot he win of Cenet against Savas Bulut 40-38 and Kostas Papakonstantinou against Jacob Haack Sörensen 40-37 in 31.Best man of the match was Ronny Lindemann (BCC Witten), who beat Johann Schirmbrand 40-21 in 20.

The German champion Bergisch-Gladbach started the season with a win and a loss: on Saturday the team beat Bottrop 5-3, on Sunday followed by a 6-2 loss against GT Buer. Stefan Galla defeated Nikos Polychronopoulos 40-31 in 23 innings. Stefan was one of the stars this weekend, taking 1.733 over two matches. Pierre Soumagne debuted for Bergisch with a win over Markus Galla and a draw against Anno de Kleine.

The next two rounds are played in two weeks.
