ATHENS - The third ranking tournament in Greece, in the IBT Hellas billiard room, is won by Nikos Polychronopoulos. The tournament was played over two weeks with about 120 players. The winner was awarded by 1.200 euros.
Nikos Polychronopoulos defeated the other Greek top player, Filippos Kasidokostas, in the final match 40-35 in 22 innings (1.818/1.591, runs of 9 and 6).
,,I made a gap of ten points in the first part of the match'', explained Polychronopoulos. ,,And I could keep advantage until Filippos attacked in the middle of the match. But eventually I kept a small margin.''
It was his second victory in three ranking tournaments so far. Kasidokostas won the other tournament.
Nikos Polychronopoulos is also the leader in the ranking, which is leading to the title of Greek champion. ,,We play one more ranking tournament after the World Cup in Hurghada,'' says Polychronopoulos.
In the semifinals Polychronopoulos beste Kostas Antonatos 40-23 in 25 innings. Kasidokostas advanced to the final by a win against Aris Damoulakis 40-14 in 21 innings.
