Robin Jonker, Buiting Staalconstructie
The 3rd Round of this competition showed some small suprises. The simultaneous participation of Dick Jaspers (YeL), Eddy Leppens ( Wellse Vaert), Frédéric Caudron (Topteam 's Lands Welvaren) and Jean Paul de Bruijn (Cubri/Etikon) during this round was a great publicity stunt for this competition. Who could foresee Fabian Blondeel playing baulkline 47/2 ? The 2006 European Champion didn't hardly play any baulkline 47/2 for the last years........His allround skills led him to two easy wins : 2 & 3 innings. And what about the dreamteam, Cubri/Etikon ?

Cubri/Etikon showed her vulnerability by dropping a point, these moments are rare. Henri Tilleman, two times Pentathlon winner of the Netherlands, didn't show a great shape and started the day by loosing against Robin Jonker (Buiting Staalconstructie). At the same moment Patrick Niessen had a narrow escape against the young talent Koen Workel, playing baulkline 71/2 ; 150-144 in 3 innings. It was Jean Paul de Bruijn who played an important role for the defending Dutch Champions by finishing his 1-Cushion game with a 79 run.....and so letting the team win 4-2.

Henri Tilleman won his 2nd match of the day and recovered rather quickly from his dissapointing loss earlier that day. Patrick Niessen didn't had a slight chance against Ludger Havlik (Ger) and lost his baulkline 71/2 match in 4 innings ; 14- 150. Everybody expected Jean Paul de Bruijn to win the decisive 1-Cushion match, but it was Dennis Timmers who achieved it to draw against the former World Champion in this discipline.

Frédéric Caudron from Topteam s' Lands Welvaren lost a teampoint again and is 3 points behind now, although Frédéric finished his baulkline 71/2 match in his first visit......Ad Koorevaar was impressed by the 2010 World Championship 3-Cushion Runner UP , Eddy Leppens, and lost his 1-Cushion match. Peter de Bree and Rene Luijsterburg drawed in baulkline 47/2 , so for the Wellse Vaert their first Championship point became a fact.

The YeL team achieved to succeed in a 100% score. Dick Jaspers (what's in a name ?) played two solide 1-Cushion games and did what he had to do. He finished in 13 and 9 innnings. Michel van Silfhout, a real baulkline specialist, played great and scored the maximum run in his match against Thomas Nockemann. The Surprise of the day was that Fabian Blondeel substituted Raymund Swertz by filling the baulkline 47/2 slot twice, the 2006 European Champion didn't hardly play any 47/2 at all the last couple of years. Maybe Raymund Swertz should be afraid about his position in the team ? By finishing in 2 & 3 innings it was made clear that Fabian is a real allrounder ; As of this season he's also active in the Dutch Championship 3-Cushion by teams and really doing fine over there as well.

The next (4th) round will be played at November the 20th.
