The Czech podium after the championship with Radek Hajek as the winner

PRAGUE - The best period of his career is experiencing the 38-old Radovan Hajek from Ostrava. The Czech player became European champion on small table last year in Brandenburg an der Havel, where he beat Belgium player Kenny Miatton. Last weekend he won the Czech national championships after a 15 years break. In the final he beat Ivo Gazdos 40-26 in 23 innings.

The tournament, which was held in Prague club TJ Sokol Zizkov, was only for top 16 players of the season. Hajek had a fabulous start to the final match. He recorded runs of 5-5-3-9 in the first 4 innings. He went to the break with 20 points lead. After the break Hajek made some mistakes, but Gazdos could not fight back.

In the semi-final, Hajek beat Martin Bohac 40-34 in 41. Bohac also played a very good tournament until this match. In the quater final, Bohac recorded his best match ever. He beat Novak 35-12 in 12 innings, last 20 points made in 5 innings.

The second semi-final match was won by Gazdos vs Stepan Kohout 40-32 in 35 innings.

Whole tournament was live transmitted. The coverage viewed more than 8 thousand spectators. The main goal of the organizer was to bring more publicity to Czech carom billiard and organize it on the highest level as possible.
