Record number of players in Grand Prix Rosmalen

ROSMALEN - The Grand Prix three cushion in Rosmalen (Netherlands) is launched on Monday with a record number of players. Henny Wezenbeek, the sports director, received for the second Grand Prix of the year 117 registrations. ,,That is more than we've ever had,'' he said.

For the second Grand Prix tournament, after the start in Partycentrum Osdorp (winner Martien van der Spoel) the preliminaries started this week with the pre-pre-pre-pre qualifications.

Henny Wezenbeek: ,,The interest for the Grand Prix tournament increases: also for the third and fourth tournament, in Oosterhout and Capelle, already more than a hundred participants signed in.''

Piet Blankers and Ad Hermans had an excellent start in Rosmalen: Blankers won his group undefeated with 1.052 average, Hermans with 0.816. Hoeba and Goverde were the other group winners.

Martien van der Spoel defends his first place in the rankings after his victory at the first Grand Prix in Amsterdam. There he defeated Glenn Hoffman in the final.

For the main event, the schedule of two players in the groups have already been made. In the same group will show up:

The main event will start on Wednesday, June 11th at 11.00 am with Dick Jaspers as first player in the arena. The knockout stage, with the eighth-finals, is starting Friday, June 13th at 11.00.

The semifinals are Saturday, June 14th at 13.00, the final is at 15.30.
