Robinson Morales was the best in the preliminaries

MEDELLIN - The sixteen group winners have qualified for the knockout round on the first day of the Pan Americans: eight players advance to the main event in Medellin. Robinson Morales was the best in the preliminaries with 1.395 averaged over two matches. Luis Suarez was the second best, Alejandro Piza the third.

The best winner, Robinson Morales from Colombia, defeated Fredy Martinez 30-14 in 17 innings and won with a small margin his match against Mauricio Aguilar: 30-28 in 26. Luis Suarez was one of the stars in a match in which he eliminated Andres Naranjo 30-24 in 18 (1.667/1333). Fernando Diaz won the battle with Julian Morales: a 30-18 win and a 30-24 loss.

Andres Lizarazo needed a tough fight to qualify against Jaime Carrasco (30-29).

Fourteen Colombians, one Peruvian (Oscar Pachas) and Jefferson Troya (Ecuador) are fighting on the second day for eight places in the main tournament that starts off on Thursday.

The matches for qualifying with the ranking and the averages of the players in the preliminaries:
