Robinson Morales battled his way to win the Torneo Feria de Flores

MEDELLIN - The Torneo Feria de Flores, one of the most famous tournaments on the Colombian billiards calendar, has been won by Robinson Morales. The 36 year old Colombian was much stronger in the final match than Carlos Campino: 40-16 in twenty innings. Colombia's top players Huberney Catano, Andres Lizarazo and Alexander Salazar also came to the top eight.

The preliminaries in the Master Club Billares in Medellin had started with 98 players. On the two final days of the knockout, the final field performed in many high level matches.

Robinson Morales was the best in the final laps where he took down all the other favorites. The Colombian, who achieved his biggest victory in his career at the 2012 Pan American championships and defeated Dutch Dick Jaspers (the later winner) two weeks ago in the Verhoeven Open 35-32 in 15 with 2.333 averages and a 15-run.

Robinson started in the Master Club in the last 32 with a win over the Mexican Alan Fields (30-16 in 20), then beat Daniel Morales (30-17 in 13), Huberney Catano (30-20 in 20), Andres Lizarazo (30-30 in 18, 2-1 penalties) and finally Carlos Campino in a superior and one-sided match 40-16 in 20.

Carlos Campino defeated Alexander Salazar in the semi-finals 30-14 in 18 innings.

The top eight of the tournament: Robinson Morales, Carlos Campino, Alexander Salazar, Andres Lizarazo, Huberney Catano, Alejandro Pizza, Santiago Carmona and Antonio Tabares.

The tournament had total prize money of 12.000,000 (twelve million) Colombian pesos. The winner took 1600 US dollars.
