SANTIAGO - The final group phase in the Pan-American championship starts with the Colombian Robinson Morales as leader of the ranking. He was one of six players with the maximum score of six match points in the qualifying rounds and played the highest average with 1.915.

The 22nd Panamaricans, with many Colombians among the favorites, are played on four Verhoeven tables in the Billiards and Coffee Club Nunoa in Santiago, Chile. The knock-out phase starts from the sixteenth finals. After the preliminaries 40 players are qualified, eight players, including the reigning champion Javier Teran, Luis Aveiga and Henry Diaz, were seeded and joined them in the next phase. The 48 are divided in groups of three. The winners and the numbers two advance for the main tournament with 32.

Robinson Morales leads the ranking before Henry Diaz (6 points, 1.233), Carloman Ortiz (6 points, 1.284), Daniel Morales (6, 1.190), Alexander Salazar (6, 1.163) and Oscar Pachas, the only Peruvian between five unbeaten Colombians with six points and 1.098.

Javier Teran, the defending champion from Ecuador, starts the tournament today against the Colombian Julian Torres, Robinson Morales meets Idelfonso Alvarez, Luis Aveiga will face Santiago Carmona, Alexander Salazar plays against Leopoldo Rojas, Merlin Romero against Claudio Grauer, Henry Diaz against Manuel Lindao and Julian Morales against Julio Crispin.
