Roland Forthomme beat Dick Jaspers

BARENDRECHT - We can't speak about the best weeks of the year for Roland Forthomme, the Belgian who again dropped some places on the world ranking after his disappointing performance at the world championship in Sluiskil. But unexpectedly he rised to greater heights this afternoon in the Dutch competition. The leader of Snellen Recycling defeated Dick Jaspers in the away match with his team at Champion Van Dongen and De Roo. Forthomme finished 50-39 in 21 innings.
Crystal Kelly is still leading the league thanks to the 8-0 victory against De Vrachtkar. Frédéric Caudron signed for the best match of the day in the competition. He beat Johan Loncelle 50-30 in only 19 innings.

The other remarkable results today were the victory of A1 Biljarts against Delta/Fast. Michael Nilsson surprised with a win (50-33 in 29 innings) against Eddy Leppens, the number two of the World championship in Sluiskil last week behind the golden Dani Sánchez. And Murat Naci Coklu, leader in the team of DBL Holland, won his match against Eddy Merckx.
Roland Forthomme finally had the feeling that he could defeat the whole world. ,,I made no high runs, but played very regularly'', he said after his victory over Jaspers. ,,It was a long time ago that I have beaten Jaspers, so I am very satisfied.'' Forthomme finished the match when Jaspers was on 30 points. The Dutchman made nine caramboles in the equalizing inning.

Nevertheless it was a lost match for Snellen Recycling. Torbjörn Blomdahl was in a flush of victory against Peter Ceulemans, Martin Horn beat Barry van Beers in only 24 innings and Jean van Erp was too strong for Harry van der Ven.
Crystal Kelly kept all the match points at home against De Vrachtkar. Best man was Caudron, but Frans van Kuijk, Raimond Burgman and Raymond Ceulemans contributed to the success.
Elmar Logistics forfeited important points against Dekker Keukens. Jef Philipoom, Gerwin Valentijn and John Tijssens collected six important points for Dekker, only Hans van der Wurf lost against Ad Broeders.

DBL Holland and Mineral TOVV.nl MCR shared the points (4-4). The Turkish player Murat Naci Coklu sprankled with a win against Eddy Merckx with only one point: 50-49 in 27 innings.

Delta/Fast did not succeed to return into the top four of the ranking. The Sluiskil team lost the match with A1 Biljarts. Only Peter de Backler won his match against Martin van der Spoel. Jean Paul de Bruijn played a draw against Ronny Brants. Leppens lost against Nilsson, Hofman against Wienk. Michael Nilsson as well as Glenn Hofman this week participate in the Agipi tournament.
