Ronny Lindemann took his first title at the German championship by a win over Rudolph

BAD WILDUNGEN - Ronny Lindemann, nicknamed Ronny the Rocket, is the new German champion in three cushion. In a one-way final he defeated the champion of the last two years, Christian Rudolph, 40-13 in 33 innings. The former champion, one of the participants at the World championships in Bordeaux this week, even didn't reach the 0.400 average in the final.

The 35-year-old Ronny Lindemann recorded his first individual title. For years, he was always one of the favourites, but only now he achieved his first major success. Christian Rudolph, the champion of last year and in 2014, was defeated by a big margin in the final. The two finalists were the best players in the preliminary stages of the tournament.

On stage were further Dustin Jäschke and Thomas Ahrens, the artistic player who surprised after the victory in his discipline with his second medal in Bad Wildungen.

One of the highlights of the three-cushion tournament was the quarterfinal match of Christian Rudolph, where he defeated the Berliner Hakan Celik in the best match of the tournament: 40-8 in 18 innings, averaging 2.222. Ronny Lindemann also starred in this round with a 40-12 victory over Stefan Dirks in 20 innings. The match between Dustin Jäschke and Andreas Niehaus ended in a draw after 36 innings. Jäschke won the shoot-out and qualified for the semi-final against Rudolph.

Rudolph won this semi-final 40-29 in 28 innings, Lindemann was the better of Thomas Ahrens 40-23 in 27.

With two gold and two bronze medals, Sven Daske is the most successful player at the championship. He won gold in the free game and one cushion and bronze in two balk-line disciplines. In the final of one cushion Daske defeated Arnd Riedel 100-34 in 25 innings.

Thomas Ahrens won the championship in artistic billiards.

With the final in three cushion the 10-day event in Bad Wildungen was closed. More than 500 players from all parts of Germany competed for 39 gold medals.
