PORTO - The Portuguese three cushion championship is won by Rui Costa. The multiple title holder (four times) was too strong in the final for Joao Ferreira and won 40-24 in 26 innings. Rui Costa, who took the Portuguese Cup final as well last month, remained unbeaten in the group with eight players.

The FC Porto player flaunted in the Sala de Clube da Amadora Bilharista with an excellent overall average: 1.429. In the final ranking he was by far the best. The youthful talent Joao Ferreira, who only lost to Rui Costa, finished as second and close to the champion, playing 1.114 average.

Joao Ferreira played the best match in the second round against Carlos Tapadas 40-19 in 22 innings. Rui Costa sparkled against Francisco Rodriguez (40-18 in 24), Alipio Jorge (40-32 in 25) and in the final against Joao Ferreira in 26 innings. Santos Oliveira was third in the ranking with four wins and 0.897 ahead of Carlos Tapadas and Antonio Saramago.
