INCHEON – Rarely in the history of the Asian Games, the final in three cushion was so exciting as in the 2013 edition. The Japanese Ryuji Umeda was crowned as the winner this afternoon. He miraculously escaped in the closing innings, when he crept through the eye of the needle against Nguyen Quoc Nguyen.

The Vietnamese missed his last carom in the equalizer and thus suffered a dramatic defeat (40-39 in 21 innings). The level of the final was high, the tension was often breathtaking.

Ryuji Umeda, 24th in the world ranking, among others thanks to the 38 points he gained in the Asian championship, behind Kyung-Roul Kim, the champion and O Takeshima, the second. Nguyen Nguyen is lower on the rank: 42nd.

The Vietnamese reached the finals by defeating Takeshima, Umeda beat another Vietnamese, Xuan Cuong Ma, who outplayed one of the favorites, Jae Ho Cho.
