The Amsterdam star team wants to make spectacle in the title fight

AMSTERDAM/OSDORP – The competition in the highest league of three cushion in the Netherlands is coming up in three weeks (start on Sunday, 1st of September) and Sander Joonen already wants to look forward to a fascinating title fight. The Amsterdam owner of a billiard center (also known as international artistic player) does not make secrets of his aspirations to bring the title to the capital city.

,,We’re coming to the start with an unprecedented strong team and we have only one goal in our minds: bring the title from Zeeland (Dallinga) to Amsterdam.’’

With Dick Jaspers, Eddy Merckx, Frans van Kuyk, Dick van Uum and Sander Jonen, the Amsterdam formation hives an impressive palmares: seven world- and six European titles, completed by an extremely long list of national and international tournament victories that these players have achieved.

With the World championship three cushion - in October in Antwerp – not so far away, players and audience are already awaiting the start of the competition, which starts off with an absolute cracker. Because on Sunday, September 1st, the Partycentre Osdorp team meets in its own house at the Jan Rebelstraat 24 in Amsterdam the defending champion Dallinga/Frans Bevers with Frédéric Caudron, Eddy Leppens, Jean Paul de Bruijn, Glenn Hoffman and Peter De Backer. And of course: this team as well has a line-up with players, who achieve numerous world and European titles.

The expected interest for the opening match is reason for Sander Jonen, owner of the billiard center in Amsterdam-Osdorp, to create special circumstances for the expected number of spectators.

,,This game is a great cracker, of course, to see how the form of the players with a view to the World championships in Belgium. And it would be really unique if we can bring the Dutch title to Amsterdam’’, says Sander Jonen in a preview.

He continues: ,,It will not be easy, because the competition is fierce and there are more strong teams in the league. That makes it exciting and attractive for billiards lovers.''

Sander Jonen wants to put on a show during the home matches. ,,I want to make something special for billiards fans. We think about more entertainment for the audience. For instance, exhibitions during the break. We want to offer the people who visit the matches billiards on a high level as well as a great ambiance.’’
