BOGOTA - The former star player Semih Sayginer hasn't been seen in official championships and World Cups for years. He's still practicing, most of the time in Murat Tuzul's billiardroom in Istanbul, but for Semih himself his career as entertainer and singer is very important.

The 48-year-old Turkish magician in three cushion and trickshots, who was the world champion after a win against Filippos Kasidokostas in the final, is still performing in demonstrations and tournaments. This week he's one of the invited players for the Grand Prix Intercontinental Club 8 in Bogota, Colombia together with Dani Sánchez, Tayfun Tasdemir and Eddy Leppens.

The tournament will be played in the preliminary rounds with many Colombians. The qualification started with 22 groups of three players, who meet in matches to fifteen caroms and two sets won.

For the second phase 44 players will qualify, that number is supplemented to 48 with Sánchez, Sayginer, Tasdemir and Leppens. The 48 players will be divided in sixteen groups of three. The two best of these groups advance for the knockout stage with 32 players.

The most known players in the tournament are Robinson and Julian Morales, Miguel Romero, Carlos Campino, Henry Diaz, Carloman Ortiz, Alexander Salazar, Reina Vandenver, Heriberto Artizibal, Carlos M. Villegas and HarryReyes.

The Grand Prix in Bogota, with a $ 15,000 prize money, started yesterday (South American time) and ends on Sunday.
