KAYSERI - Will Semih Sayginer be able to make a glorious comeback at the World championships in Bordeaux? The 51-year-old Turk, who has been invited with a wildcard to meet the world's best, won the Grand Prix in Kayseri, the third ranking tournament for the Turkish championship today. The final victory against Birol Uymaz was really impressive: 40-12 in 12 innings.
The final was a one-way match: Sayginer soon took a big lead (26-3 in five), ran out to 28-3 in 8, 37-5 in 10 and finished two innings later.
Tayfun Tasdemir and Birol Uymaz met in a thrilling semi-final, which ended 40-40: Uymaz was the best in the shootouts 2-1. Sayginer was in the semi-final too strong for Muammer Rahmet 40-24 in 20.

Emrullah Basegmez played, like Sayginer in the final, one of the most remarkable matches in the tournament vs Yordadönar: Basegmez made seven points in ten innings and finished four innings later with 4-16-6-7 (40 in 14, average 2.857).
The tournament started with 81 players. Five players were seeded, the others divided into 27 groups.
Lütfi Cenet leads the Turkish ranking after three tournaments with 150 points ahead of Can Capak with 144 and Semih Sayginer with 112. The last tournament will be played late December in Kirsehir, about 700 kilometers from Istanbul.
