Nikos Polychronopoulos, the new Greek champion

ATHENS - The battle for the Greek championship three cushion, played in four IBT Hellas tournaments, was won by Nikos Polychronopoulos. The new Greek champion defeated Filippos Kasidokostas in a sensational final match.

The two Greek matadors fought for the gold medal until the last caroms. Polychronopoulos won the last tournament.

Therefore, he finished on the lead after four tournaments, with 294 points, ahead of Filippos Kasidokostas with 242, Kostas Papakonstantinou with 130 and Kostas Kokkoris 106.

The final battle in the IBT Hellas billiard room in Athens was a world class match. Polychronopoulos finished after fifteen innings 40-30, Kasidokostas scored the ten points that he needed for the penalty shots in the equalizer.

Kasidokostas scored one point in the overtime, Polychronopoulos answered two and won the match and the title.

The champion defeated in the semifinal match Thomas Koukis 40-35 in 37 innings. Filippos Kasidokostas played a tremendous semifinal against Kostas Papakonstantinou, which he won in fourteen innings with a 21 run as highlight.

Nikos Polychronopoulos rises at the world ranking from 23 to 15 by winning the title.
