SLUISKIL - The second day of the World championship has started with two sensational matches. Filippos Kasidokostas, the reigning world champion, suffered a surprising defeat by the Swede Michael Nilsson. The Greek was leading 2-0 in sets, seemed on his way to an easy victory, but let the match slip away. Michael Nilsson showed his class in the final sprint: 3-2.
The world champion had a strong start with 15-13, 15-9, after that Nilsson dictated the match with 15-1 in two turns, followed by 15-12 and 15-13.
"I'm off for a place in the tournament'', Nilsson said. ,,But I am especially disappointed by the loss yesterday against Dion Nelin. In the second set, which was important for the match, I was pointed to my seat by the referee after a clean carom. That's why it was hard to loose.''
