Carom Series
RONCHIN - Six teams will compete for the European title in the classic game types next weekend. The titleholder is Etikon. The Dutch team with Henri Tilleman, Patrick Niessen and Jean Paul de Bruijn is chasing for its fifth European championship in this line-up.
The Billard Club du Canon d'Or is the organizer of the tournament, which is played in Ronchin (near Lille). The six participating teams are:
Group A:
BCCO Ronchin (France): Djoubri, JF Florent, Villiers, Dessaint, J. Florent, and Reynaert.
Chartres (France): Gretillat, Gérimont, Justice, Girard and Formont.
Bochum (Germany): Blondeel, Havlik, Nockemann, Wiedemann, Berger, Kimmerskamp.
Group B:
Etikon (Netherlands): Tilleman, Niessen, De Bruijn, Ter Braak, Van Geel.
Sueca (Spain): Cuenca, Mata, Christiani, Garriga, Ortells.
Andernos (France): Baudoin, Gerassimopoulos, De Backer, Picart, Arnaud, Connesson.
The Dutch title holder says goodbye to Henri Tilleman after this season. Tilleman is the record holder titles in the Netherlands. He will be replaced, after many successful years, by junior player Gert-Jan Veldhuizen.
The game types played at the European championship:
Balk-line 47/2 to 250 points
Balk-line 71/2 to 200 points
One cushion to 120 points.
The tournament will start on Friday: 12.30, the practicing, at 15.00 the opening. On saturday the group matches continue. The semifinals are on Sunday at 9.00 and 11.30 am, the final is at 15.00.
