SCHILTIGHEIM - The decision in the group with young players in the Agipi Masters already has fallen after two days. The Frenchman Pierre Soumagne and the Dutchman Glenn Hofman qualified this afternoon for the next round of the tournament by victories against Sameh Sidhom and Thierry Amar.
Tomorrow in the afternoon Hofman and Soumagne play their mutual match only for the honor and the bonus. The two seeded players were the undisputed shiners in this group. The Egyptian Sameh Sidhom, who lost his two matches, played a very disappointing tournament with low averages. Thierry Amar was a real competitor for Glenn Hofman this afternoon, but at the end the French player let the match slip away (40-35 in 31 innings).
Glenn Hofmann seemed not as strong as in his match of yesterday against Sidhom. ,,It was rather difficult, because Amar had a good start and I could not make a gap’’, the Dutchman said.
Pierre Soumagne was genuinely pleased with his qualification. The Frenchman, who looks more and more as a specialist in three-cushion, had a certain awe for his opponent Sidhom, did not play on a high level, but took the initiative after some innings and reached the finish with 40-32 in 43 innings.
The qualified players come back for the next round in january or february.
