The season opener in Spain: the Grand Prix in Llinars del Vallés

LLINARS DEL VALLÉS - The Grand Prix in Llinars del Vallés (Barcelona) is the first open tournament in the new three-cushion season in Spain. The tournament was a huge success last year with 88 players and Dani Sánchez as the winner in the final against David Martinez. For this year's edition, 99 players have signed up.

The preliminaries are this week until Friday. Then, the sixteen players who finished on top will join the sixteen seeded players in the main tournament. Dani Sánchez is the contender for the overall win again, followed by Ruben Legazpi, Ricardo Garcia, Javier Palazón and David Martinez.

In the preliminaries Sergio Legido shown with 1.290 average match, Xavier Fonellosa showed up with another highlight. The Catalan veteran, known as an artistic player, made his start in the tournament with 1.143 average.

Dani Sánchez won the last five tournaments in the Spanish circuit and is also the big favorite in Llinars.
