MADRID - Sixteen teams, divided into four groups of four, will play the preliminary rounds for the Spanish team championship this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The squad Gandia Cafemax, in its strongest line-up with Frédéric Caudron and Eddy Leppens is the defending champion. The team defeated Coral Colón in last year's final.
Frédéric Caudron and Eddy Leppens will not play in the pelims: they have to show up in the Netherlands for the league final with Dallinga/Frans Bevers.
The locations in Spain are Coral Colón in Sabadell (sports director Josep Maria Mas), Infanta Cristina in Murcia (Jose Antonio Carrasco), CB Paiporta (Antonio Ortiz) and Madrid (Angel Soneira).
The final of this 28th Spanish championship will be played with eight teams, in Paiporta from 20 to 23 June.
