Martin Spoormans again was a tough opponent for Caudron.

BLANKENBERGE - Sometimes it happens that Martin Spoormans gives a little lesson in the three cushion to the much more purified Frédéric Caudron. The old maestro in all disciplines of billiard even tasted in recent years a few times the pleasure to beat the undisputed star of Belgian billiards. This afternoon again the curly head was not that far away.

Spoormans launched the mutual match as always very open minded and won the first set 15-9. Then, in the second, he took a 7-3 lead, but Caudron swept away the margin to gain the set: 15-10 in twelve innings.

Caudron also took the third session (15-12), although its form, because it took fifteen innings, was not too glorious. It gave Spoormans the opportunity to come back in the match. He defeated his opponent 15-11 in seven innings.

Caudron needed a fifth set to eliminate the annoying rival. He did it in the deciding set in ten innings with a score of 15-7.

Roland Forthomme had on one of the others two tables a kind of a walk over in his match with Marc Roofthoofd, who was forced to a quick capitulation. In three sets, with a first set on high level, Forthomme made the decision. The supreme winner, who made a run of twelve in the second set, won 15-6 (4), 15-12 (15) and 15-10 (13).

Caudron meets in the next round the winner of the match between Jef Philipoom and Davy van Havere. Forthomme plays against the winner of De Backer-Mottet.
