The Belgian and Dutch top team launched the competitions with two 8-0 wins

MALLE - Two maximum scores in two days: the star team in the Belgian and Dutch league had a blistering launch this weekend. The AEJ team won on Monday night, like they did the day before in the Netherlands, the first home match for the Belgian league unthreatened 8-0.

That's exactly what was expected: the champion is already known in advance in both countries, in the opinion of many billiard fans. Dallinga and De Goeie Queue, both sponsored by AEJ, don't avoid their favorite role.

Jan Kikken, the team leader in the Netherlands, said: ,,We to take the title, win the cup, wishes to put a record average over a whole season and wants the European title for teams. That previw has set the tone for the team with Frédéric Caudron, Dick Jaspers, Eddy Merckx and Jean Paul de Bruijn.

The first mission for the team is to play a match record average on one day. Jean Paul de Bruijn: ,,If we all show our best form, we should be able to play around 2.500.''

Monday night, at the start at home, against Op de Meir, the team finished 2.000. That was mainly due to Eddy Merckx, who didn't even have such a great start in his match against Roland Uytdewillegen (9 in 8), but then attacked with twelve and ended up with 42 points in 15 innings (2.800 average).

Frédéric Caudron and Dick Jaspers remained against Eddy Leppens and Barry van Beers just under two, both played 50 points in 26 innings (1.923). Jean Paul de Bruijn defeated Ivan Stitschinsky 42-17 in 25.
Dick Jaspers had a flying start with 24-1 on the score board in six innings, but the Dutch champion stagnated at the end with six consecutive misses: he won 50-21 in 26. Caudron started with twelve from the break, kept his opponent under pressure, made eleven in the twelfth inning and won 50-43 in 26.

Dave Christiani, Kenny Miatton and Pierre Soumagne were the match winners for KBC Zanzibar in the always tough away match against BC Biljart Express (6-2). Frans van Kuijk saved the honor for the home team beating Roland Forthomme 50-43 in 27 with a high run of fourteen. Kenny Miatton was one of the first day's stars with a victory over Martin Spoormans: 42-24 in 23 (1.826).

Martin Horn and Christian Rudolph took victory for BC Herentals in the match with debutant Brugse. The Germans defeated Henk Blauwblomme (50-36 in 25) and Koen Saver (50-43 in 55). Patrick Vasseur was the only winner for KBC Bruges. The Dutchman defeated Leon Smolders (1.354).

The house derby between BC De Ploeg 1 and BC De Ploeg 2 ended in a 6-2 win for the first team. Jaak Wijnen surprised Ronny Lindemann 50-34 in 38. Dirk Weeremans was good for 1.400.
