Frédéric Caudron was with a double win against Dick Jaspers the big hitter in the semi-finals.

CHATILLON - Not Dick Jaspers, the number one of the world, but Frédéric Caudron, first man of Agipi, played the stars from heaven in two matches for the semi-finals in the French championship. The Belgian dominated the two battles with the rival and showed that he belongs to the top three players of the world.

The sublime playing Caudron signed for two major victories: the second meeting between the numbers on of Agipi and Clichy Montmartre was decisive for rechaing the final. Jean Reverchon and Eddy Merckx gave Clichy a 4-2 lead, so Jaspers kept control about the chances of his team. When he could beat Caudron, his team would take a 6-2 lead and play the final.

Frédéric Caudron, who won the match of world class against Jaspers last night (50-48 in 13 innings), once again showed himself too strong for the normally so cold-blooded Dutchman. The match went up long time hand in hand, until Caudron attacked at a score of 35-33 with a run of eleven to 46-33. Jaspers had no chance at all from that moment: Caudron reached the finish with 50-34 in 27 innings.

Laxou and Clichy will play the losers final tomorrow morning, followed by the final between Agipi and Andernos (14.00).
