Sung-Won Choi is the new record holder high run in Korea with 26

CHUN CHEO - The Korean player Sung-Won Choi has improved the national record run in Korea during an Open ranking tournament in Chun Cheon. In the fifth inning of his match against Choi Kwang Ryeol Park he ran 26. The highest run so far made by a Korean player was 24 by Jung-Han Heo.

Sung-Won Choi, the number seven in the world, seemed on the way to the world record under an immense tension in the tournament hall. He missed the 27th carom by a whisker. The world record is 28 caroms, made by four players: Raymond Ceulemans, Junichi Komori, Roland Forthomme and Frédéric Caudron.

The ranking tournament in Korea is ongoing: the sixteenth and eighth finals are played today.

Sung-Won Choi made the super run in the fifth, when he had only two points on the score board. The match finished with a thrilling final, when Park made little runs of six, four, one and one in his last innings: the final score was 40-35 in 18 innings.
