Tayfun Tasdemir took the Turkish titles with three wins in four tournaments

ZUNDERT - He won three of four Turkish tournaments and was by far the best in the Turkish championship three cushion. Tayfun Tasdemir took the title in his country for the fourth time ahead of Tolgahan Kiraz and Murat Tüzül. The other Turkish toppers like Lütfi Cenet, Murat Naci Coklu and Adnan Yüksel were no-hope-victims.

The ranking of the championship does'nt mean that the Turkish key players will not show up at the World championship for teams in Viersen. The federation has planed to send players on the basis of their past performances. But as a result of the Turkish top three, Tayfun Tasdemir, Tolgahan Kiraz and Murat Tüzül will be rewarded by financial support for playing the World Cups.

Tayfun Tasdemir took three victories in the cycle of four tournaments, Mehmet Aksoy won the fourth, in Diyarbakir. Tasdemir triumphed three times in Antalya, once ahead of Murat Tüzül, once ahead of Savas Bulut and in the last again ahead of Murat Tüzül.

Murat Naci Coklu finished sixth and took his best result in the last tournament, where he played the semi-finals. With his final average of 1.317 he remained below his level. Cenet was seventeenth with 1.326 and only was close to the podium in the third tournament. Adnan Yüksel was 38th in the rank, but he did not play the last two tournaments.

With 256 points, nearly a hundred points more than the number two and 1.758, Tasdemir was a bridge too far for the others. It was his fourth Turkish title, 12 times he won the Turkish Cup.

The Turkish team for the European Cup, with Tasdemir Coklu, Cenet and Yüksel will show up in the same line-up to have a shot at a new title.

The tournaments, by the way, were played with matches to five sets won, eleven points in a set. That will change next year: the new system is the playing system of the World Cups.
