BRANDENBURG AN DER HAVEL- The German organization of the most massive billiard tournament in history is counting down the start. The European championship in all disciplines is starting off in ten days (12th April) in Brandenburg an der Havel, not far from Berlin.
More than 350 players from twenty countries compete from 12 until Sunday 21 April for European gold and for the prize money in all games. The most popular discipline, three cushion, will open the tournament on April 12. Filippos Kasidokostas is the defending champion in a field of 64 players: 16 players are seeded, 48 are divided into groups of three players.

The European championship will show a collection of all well known, world class three-cushion players, talents, with a great line up for women and in addition to this European championship will be played for the podium places in 5 Pins, artistic billiards, one cushion , free game and balk-lines.
The most obvious in the spotlight is the championship three-cushion, that is played from 12 to 14 April with a total of prizemoney of 28.700 euros, including 6.000 euros for the winner.
Torbjörn Blomdahl, who not so long ago, again conquered the number one position in the world, is certainly one of the favorites and a great competitor for titleholder Filippos Kasidokostas. But there are more main rivals, like Eddy Merckx, the world champion, Frédéric Caudron, Dick Jaspers, Jérémy Bury, Dani Sánchez, Marco Zanetti, Martin Horn and other prominent players in the world ranking.
The Swede Blomdahl is looking forward to the event with great interest. ,,I expect a great fight at a high level in a nice atmosphere. It is not only the title and ranking points we are chasing for, we can also pick up a ticket for the World Games in Colombia. That is for me an important goal, because the title in the World Games is missing in my record list.''
