Raymund Swertz, possible new champion ?

The Netherlands - 16 players were battling together with the aim to earn a ticket for the Dutch Championship Pentathlon Final (Inkada Grand Dutch) next January. During 4,5 and 6 November each player had to play five matches per day. A pretty tough job as you can imagine it's normal to play one or two matches a day.

Game type /length (Qualifications):

* Free Game / 300 Car

* Baulkline 47/2 / 200 Car

* Baulkline 71/2 / 150 Car

* 1-Cushion / 100 Car

* 3-Cushion / 30 Car

* During the Final other game lengths will apply

Group A:

Defending Champion Henri Tilleman had a quite easy qualification; 13 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw. The suprise was the performance of Koen Workel, this youngster improved his skills a lot since his previous attempt to reach the Final in 2009, by taking the second place in the group. Ad Klijn and Rene Tull could not really impress and were knocked out the tournament.

Group B:

2008 Pentathlon winner Jean-Paul de Bruijn did what everybody expected; to qualify easily. With his two big weapons (1-Cushion and 3-Cushion) he will be a favourit for winning the title for a second time. Rene Luijsterburg took the second ticket by defeating Dennis Timmers in a direct confrontation. For the first time in four editions, Peter Volleberg didn't succeed in qualifying for the Final, he performed below expectations.

Group C:

Martien van der Spoel, who's playing mainly 3-Cushion during the season, showed his great skill in the Series game. Without any problem he stayed unbeaten. As expected also Raymund Swertz earned his ticket for the Final stage by beating Harrie van de Boogaard (3rd) on sunday. Wiel van Gemert went home empty handed, loosing almost all his matches.

Group D:

Allrounder optima forma ; Dave Christiani, did what he had to do and succeeded in his mission to qualify again for the Final. Also Michel van Silfhout who was able to draw against Christiani, reached his fourth consecutive Final ticket. Micha van Bochem and Roij van Raaij didn't had a slight chance to qualify and will have to wait for next year to make an another attempt.
