ROSMALEN - The four European ladies, left for the semi-finals in three cushion, are Therese Klompenhouwer (The Netherlands), Steffi Daske (Germany), Estela Cardosa (Spain) and Jeannette Jensen (Denmark). These four survived the knock-out stage at the European Ladies Cup in Rosmalen last night. The semi-finals are: Klompenhouwer-Daske, Cardoso-Jensen. The matches are at 12.30.
Therese Klompenhouwer was the only one who was able to finish her match in the quarterfinals. The former world champion defeated the Czech Irene Hambalkova 30-11 in 33 innings. The other matches were stopped at the maximum number of 40 innings. Steffi Daske bested Aysegul Fendi (21-20), Estela Cardoso defeated Jaimie Buelens (24-18) and Jeannette Jensen was the better of Mirjam Pruim (18-15).
The best performance on Saturday came from Belgian Danielle le Bruyn, who was already out for a final place, but she beat Therese Klompenhouwer 25-23 in 18 with a final run of 11 in her last match.
Karolien Matthys (Belgium) and Chritel Willemse ended up as the group winners in the free game. The Dutch with six points and 8.78, the Belgian after a perfect last match in 3 innings with 13.33 and a maximum run of 120.
