ATHENS - The indisputable gap in the Greek carom billiards community, which was created after the suspension of the IBT Hellas activities, drove a group of players and club owners to a table in order to discuss possible solutions for the future of carom billiards in Greece. That is what Avraam Dadoros writes on Trispodes website today.
The primary subjects that were put on that table meeting were:
The unity of carom billiards on the whole Greek territory in both competition and communication level amongst all parties.
The re-launch of the Team-Club competition between clubs under no restriction in number of competitors, in an attempt to raise participations and not to exclude anyone.
A single and unified competition calendar that would include the great majority of the events that all shall follow.
The launch of a bilingual (Greek-English) website that will inform, advertise, and promote carom billiards in Greece.
Avraam Dadoros: ,,In order for this attempt to succeed it is of paramount importance that all parties that represent players, club owners, and traders come in a consensus. The key parameter in this success lies on the solid fact that this time the steering committee that will run the whole process shall not be consisted by members that belong in one of the following parties: high rank players, club owners or billiard traders either.''
,,Proposals are always welcome from every party that one could represent; unluckily the past has proven that those people on such positions are more or less biased on decisions. It is also vital that the whole steering committee will be flexible, act spontaneous and administer substantially the whole process of carom billiards without wasting time in non-sense meetings like those experienced in the past.''
,,Therefore it was decided that the constitution and selection of the committee members will solely depend on the ONE PERSON to whom the whole body will be assigned after a democratic selection process.''
The new substantial carom billiard body that will be created will carry the name
Greek (or Hellenic) Billiard Union
It was also decided from all the participants that this announcement will be published at www.trispodes.gr as a reference, and that will be shared through facebook and other social media in order that everyone interested is informed.
