Two fold winner Marco Zanetti with last year's trophy in Lausanne

LAUSANNE - The top six players in the world will be at the start at the third edition of the Lausanne Billard Masters from 20 to 22 November. The organization, led by Diane Wild is proud to present this strong field. The Italian Marco Zanetti is the two fold winner in Lausanne: in his first final he defeated Frédéric Caudron, last year he beat German Martin Horn.

The six players from the top ten are Torbjörn Blomdahl, Dick Jaspers, Eddy Merckx, the world champion Sung-Won Choi, Tayfun Tasdemir and Marco Zanetti. The field is completed by Martin Horn (silver medal last year), Jérémy Bury (best French player) and two Swiss players who have placed in a mutual selection.

Diane Wild: ,,In Lausanne, we organized a tournament with the Académie de Billard Lausannoise: Fernando Couto won. And then, eight players were in the tournament of the Swiss Federation, Torsten Danielsson was the winner.'' Frédéric Caudron is missing on the start list this year. Diane: ,,We always invite only one player per country and Eddy Merckx is higher in the ranking than Caudron.''

The ten players will be divided later into two groups of five to battle for a place in the semi-finals. The groups are divided as follows: The number one of last year, followed by the players in order of the world rankings after the World Cup in Guri.

Group A: 1-4-5-8-9. Pool B: 2-3-6-7-10.

The matches are played to forty points without equalizer. The two billiards and training table in the Casino are from Korea, brand MIN.

Tickets for the tournament can be ordered online from the start of October. In the first month there is a discount of 20%.

The prices:

Friday, November 20: 20 Swiss francs
Saturday, November 21: 35 Sw. francs
Saturday, as of 16.30: 20 Sw. francs
Saturday from 16.30: 20 Sw. francs
Sunday November 21: 30 Sw. francs.
Pass three days: 70 Sw. francs.

The Lausanne Billards Masters is proud to be involved once again in the action in support of people with multiple sclerosis (MS) by Merck Serono, a division of Merck Suisse SA, Sport for MS. For every point scored in the Lausanne Billard Masters, Merck Serono, will pay 5 CHF to the Romandy Center of the Swiss MS Society. The amount raised by this action will be used to promote physical activity among multiple sclerosis sufferers.
Two years ago, the 1190 caroms yielded an amount of 5.950 Sw. francs on, last year it was 1.587 points which resulted in a contribution of 7.935 Sw. Francs.

The prize money for the players:

Total prize money is 31.150 Sw. francs.
Participation: 2000 Sw. francs, plus 350 for each victory.

Winner of the tournament: 2000, second 1500, third and fourth 900, fifth and sixth 500, seventh and eighth 300, ninth and tenth 100.

Bonus: 150 for a run of ten, 400 run of fifteen, 800 run of 20. Match in less than 20 innings, 250 Sw. francs, in less than 15 innings 450. Best overall average over 2.000: 800.
