Therese Klompenhouweer, in the Belgian league the better of 47 male players

TURNHOUT/MALLE - The most remarkable conclusion after the eleventh round in the Belgian three cushion team competition is that Therese Klompenhouwer was the better in average of 47 men. The women's world champion was inimitable in a great match with  a victory over Erik Hendrickx, 42-16 in 17 innings.  She averaged 2.470 with the highest run of 8. The result also meant for her De Ploeg team a 6-2 victory over TBA Biljartpalace. The team therefore took a little more distance from the last place. Biljart Express, the leader, again lost an expensive point. The Turnhout team played a draw in its own home against Mister 100 Lier.

Therese played her best match ever over 40 caroms. The emphasis was mainly on the run of 8 in the fifth inning, then three times 5 in the middle part and 5 and 6 in the last two innings. In the 17 innings Therese had four misses and six times a one. Erik Hendrickx had a total of nine misses and made a five in his last inning, before Therese finished with 6. Jaak Wijnen and Eddy Willems also won their matches against Ronny Daniels and Luc Royberghs in 34 and 37 innings. De Ploeg's team average was 1.291 thanks to the excellent Therese Klompenhouwer.

"It feels great that I finally performed as I regularly play in a practice game at home'', was Klompenhouwers comment. "I often play around 40 points over two average, but always at home when I am in a training, so it's nice that I did it in an official match now.''

BC Deurne can call himself the winter champion after the 8-0 win over Zanzibar on Tuesday-evening. Even without Jean van Erp, who, like Glenn Hofman, misses four matches in the rotation system, the reigning champion was much stronger than Zanzibar. Glenn Hofman, "There is more tension in the league so far, because we still have the same match points as Biljart Express. We do have two game points more. We lost once, vs Biljart Express, played a draw twice and won eight times. Two matches ago, we were three points behind, we picked it up nicely.''

Op the Meir and De Goeie Queye, who played against each other yesterday, are three points behind the two leaders. De Goeie Queue won 6-2. In the third game on Tuesday, De Witte Molen played a draw against De Leug.

The team of Mister 100 will have to get gather its match points in away games, because the Belgian federation has banned the team to play at home matches on Royal Pro cloths. Kurt Ceulemans, the hall owner, has gone to court and is waiting for a decision. The home game last week, with a victory of 6-2, has already been converted to a 0-8 loss by the federation. Mister 100 was summoned to put the cloths prescribed by the Belgian federation from December 1st. The draw against Biljart Express adds a point to the total, so Mister 100 now is in the middle part of the ranking with 10 points out of 11 matches. Eddy Merckx and Frans van Kuyk won their matches for Biljart Express against Peter and Kurt Ceulemans. Raymond Ceulemans beat Gerwin Valentijn, Bart Ceulemans defeated Martin Spoormans.

Eddy Merckx started smoothly with three runs of 5, was leading 21-14 in 8 innings against Peter Ceulemans and later 32-24 in 14. The just returned Merckx from the Ceulemans Continental Cup returned had a stop for a moment, Ceulemans came back to 33-30 in 20, but Merckx ran out 5, 3 and 2: 50-36 in 29. Frans van Kuyk attacked by 3-2-5-4-9 after a levelled start (12-10), led 37 -22 and took the 50-37 in 34 win. Bart Ceulemans launched the game against Martin Spoormans by 8 and 9 (18-6 in 10), Spoormans came back after Bart Ceulemans missed 14 times in 18 innings. The finish, however, was good enough for the win 42-36 in 32. Raymond Ceulemans and Gerwin Valentijn were in balance until 21-21 in 31, the maestro was the better in the last part and won 42-36 in 45.

BC Herentals and KBC Kortrijk played a draw with Martin Horn playing the best match. TheGerman beat Dave Christiani 50-30 in 23. Martin Ravestyn and Frédéric Beghin ganed the Kortrijk point by wins over Leon Smolders and Bart van Hove.
