Therese Klompenhouwer by far favorite in Lille

LILLE - The Dutch lady players, who were with three in the semi finals in the last European championship in Odense, are represented with four among the sixteen players for the European championship, that will be helt from August 12 to 14 in the Skema Business School in Lille (France). The title holder Therese Klompenhouwer is by far favorite for a new title.

The Dutch number one was already three times European champion and looks forward for many years to a world championship in her favorite game. ,,We play a few tournaments this year with the ladies,'' she said last week in Matosinhos, where she participated in the World Cup.

The international tournament in New York is one of them, in the European Championships in Lille the ladies play for the medals. Klompenhouwer leads the group of Dutch players, Karina Jetten, who she defeated in the previous championship 2-0 with an average of 0.960 is the group leader in C. The two other Oranje ladies are Gerrie Geelen and Anja Wijnen.

The Belgians have two player in the tournament: Danielle le Bruijn, the champion, and the young Jaimie Buelens, who she beat in the final in Blankenberge. Gülsen Degener was in Odense in 2009 the only player who was with the three Dutch players in the semifinals.

Group B: Gerre Geelen (NL), Helga Mitterböck (Aus), Maria Isabel Romia (Sp), Céline Jacques (Fr).
Group C: Karina Jetten (NL), Jeannette Jensen (Den), Natascha Al Mamar (Austria).
Group D: Gülsen Degener (Tur), Ajna Wines (Nl), Julie Dechamps (Fr), Jaimie Buelens (Bel).
