Dick Jaspers, growing to his brilliant best

BERGISCH GLADBACH – Dick Jaspers is back to his brilliant best, much better than he was in recent weeks. He may have been eliminated in the Peloponnesos World Cup in the first round by Korean Dong Koong Kang, but Jaspers recovered very quickly from the deception? On Saturday, Sunday and Monday the Dutchman made a clean sweet. He was in his best form again with three great matches in the German and Belgian league.

Two wins against Murat Naci Coklu (40-11 in 10 innings, run 18) and Michael Puse (40-15 in 17) have jacked up his confidence in such a way, that Jaspers had an scintillating start on Monday in the top match with BC Deurne against BC De Ploeg.
The Dutch leader in the Belgian champions team even led 35-7 against Martin Horn after six innings: he toppled his opponent eventually 50-22 in 14 innings.

Three matches, 3.170 average. Dick Jaspers seems to be in top form for the upcoming World championship in Antwerp, held from 16 until 20 October.

In the German league, where Jaspers is playing for Magdeburg, his team's performing very poor so far. Bergisch Gladbach is the leader after the double round on Saturday and Sunday and the draw of BCC Witten against GT Buer.

The victory over Bottroper BA, on Sunday, was a win with highs and downs. Thomas Horcher lost his match against Dirk Wörmer, but Frank Eversmann tied the score with a victory over Dustin Jäschke (40-30 in 33).

Martin Horn seemed to finish things off against Cengiz Karaca (40-22 in 20), but Torbjörn Blomdahl was in troubles against Christian Rudolph and finished with a tie: 40-40 in 31, so that Bergisch took a narrow 5-3 victory.

Ravensburger BC, the team that made the promotion to the bundesliga last season, clinched two major victories and climbed up to the upper ranks. The wins against Magdeburg and Neustadt bring the team to second place, only one point behind Bergisch.

BC Magdeburg made a dramatic start in the competition. The team, led by Dick Jaspers, is in a vale of tears, despite the superior performances of the Dutchman. Magdeburg suffered four losses in a row. Dick Jaspers expressed a sensational form in his matches against Coklu and Puse.

BSV Velbert recorded two wins vs Bottrop and Sterkrade. Eddy Merckx was the main player for his new team with a win over Christian Rudolph: 40-26 in 17 innings.

The bundesliga continues over two weeks.
