Frédéric Caudron and Jean Paul de Bruijn, billiard twins for many years

HAARLO/ SLUISKIL/ LOCHEM - At the end of a tough week and looking forward to the World championships in Viersen, the 14th round of the Dutch league will be played this Sunday. The Buffalo league, where new rules are announced for next year about the number of foreign players, is facing some interesting fights. What about Jaspers-Merckx, Caudron-Polychronopoulos, Leppens-Christiani, Horn-Rudolph and De Brijn-Uymaz? Moreover there are three Ceulemansen at the tables: Raymond for Dallinga, Peter for Zundert and Kurt for De Eekhoorn. In short: it will be a wintry, but wonderful Sunday in the Dutch premier league.

Many players are coming from a tough week: another round in the Belgian league, important matches in the French league and starting yesterday, Thursday, the Grand Prix in Vlaardingen with a sublime Dick Jaspers on the opening day (4.000 average). This Sunday is a full round of playing at the Buffalo league and from then, many players are preparing for the World championship for national teams in Viersen.

Looking forward to the new rule for foreign players, it is very interesting to take a look at the teams for this weekend. At Dallinga-DPC, seven out of eight players are of foreign origin. Only Jean Paul de Bruijn plays under the Dutch flag, but despite (or thanks to) the line-up of the teams, HCR Dallinga expects a very interesting match with Caudron-Polychronopoulos, De Bruijn-Uymaz, Van Acker-Spoormans and Raymond Ceulemans -Bitalis. What can we expect from Frédéric Caudron (Belgium) and Jean Paul de Bruijn (Netherlands) in the run-up to the World championships in Viersen, the billiard twins who have been competing in the same team in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany for so long?

Bousema Lochem plays at home against A1 Biljarts with five foreigners of the eight. SIS Cleaning, as always with four Dutch players, faces De Veemarkt with two foreigners. HCR Prinsen-L & B Ledermode, a top match, counts two foreigners: Leppens at Prinsen and Merckx at L & B. At Zundert (home match against MCR) and Team Eekhoorn (at home against 't Hartje), Forthomme, Peter Ceulemans, Frings, Kurt Ceulemans, Miatton, De Backer and Bulut are not from the Dutch school. But in fact, there are not so many adjustments to be made for the majority of the teams, although Danny Molier from DPC will keep on fighting against the rule.

The top of the ranking in the Buffalo league is under pressure every week. At stake are three places for the playoffs, for which there are certainly still six contenders. SIS Schoonmaak faces a home match against De Veemarkt, HCR Prinsen against L&B Ledermode and Dallinga against DPC in matches that can be crucial for the further course. A1 Biljarts travels to Bousema Lochem, Team Eekhoorn plays the derby against 't Hartje/Van Wanrooy and STZ Zundert receives the number last MCR.
