HALLE-ZOERSEL - The start of De Ploeg 1, two years ago the Belgian team champion, is still not very hopeful. The second team, on the other hand, made a promising start. Thorsten Frings, Dirk Weeremans, Tom Persyn (who surprised Raymond Ceulemans with a nice draw) and Eddy Willems Jr. returned home from the away match against Mr. 100 Lier with the full match points (5-3).

Tom Persyn, who lives in Lier, played the best match for his team. He shared the points with Mr. 100 himself in an excellent and exciting match: 42-42 in 30 innings. Thorsten Frings defeated Kurt Ceulemans with a two points difference (50-48 in 37) , Dirk Weeremans brought the moderate playing Bart Ceulemans to his knees (50-33 in 52),  only Koen Ceulemans grabbed the full win for his team vs Eddy Willems (42 -32 in 32).

The reserve team of De Ploeg has settled in the second stage of the ranks, like Zanzibar and De Witte Molen, two points down from the leaders, De Goeie Queue and BC Deurne.

The two leaders maintained their unbeaten status after three playing rounds. BC Deurne bested Op de Meir 1 on Tuesday with an excellent Dick Jaspers (50-17 in 20 innings against Wim van Cromvoirt), an easy winning Eddy Merckx (50-19 in 26 against Henk Habraken) and Davy van Havere, who beat Marc Roofthooft 42 - 36 in 36. Jean Paul de Bruijn lost his duel with Rudy de Laet 42-35 in 41.

De Ploeg against De Goeie Queue was The team at The Good Queue turned out into a trench war match. The Salpho team with Frédéric Caudron as its frontman wanted to maintain the leading position, De Ploeg played for its currently last chance to join the top in the first part of the competition.

De Goeie Que took the win in Halle-Zoersel, 6-2, partly thanks to Frédéric Caudron himself, who flaunted with a win against Martin Horn 50-30 in 21. Before the break, Peter Ceulemans and Jean van Erp fought thrilling duel that was decided in the last caroms. Ceulemans finished as first, Jean van Erp needed three points in the equalizer, but missed his last, difficult shot, a bank shot around the table.

Eddy Leppens finished things off against Jef Philipoom by a large margin (50-31 in 27) for the 6-2 victory. Wesley Jaeger was the only winner for the home team vs Johan Claessen (42-39 in 41).

BC De Meir 2 took its first win in the away game against BC Herentals. Roland Uytdewilligen defeated Dave Christiani, who suffered a neck pain and needed a therapy next day. Barry van Beers hung on to win vs Christian Rudolph (50-43 in 38) and Ivan Stitschinsky recorded a solid win against Leon Smolders with 42 in 39.

De Witte Molen en KBC Zanzibar remain in the wake of the leaders by victories over BC Biljart Express and KBC Kortrijk.

The most surprising was De Witte Molen’s full win against Biljart Express in Turnhout 5-3. The decisive match, between Frans van Kuyk and Glenn Hoffman, on a 4-2 score for De Witte Molen, ended in a draw. Glenn Hoffman (1 in 5 innings, 34 in 12) scored four times in the equalizer for the draw and the win for his team: 3-5.

Roland Forthomme excelled for Zanzibar in his match vs Stany Buyle, who was streets behind at  the end: 50-16 in 25 innings.

Kenny Miatton beat Martin Ravestyn, Frédéric Roelants and Jimmy Mues played a tie. Frédéric Beghin was the third best in this playing round, after Jaspers and Caudron. He bested  Pierre Soumagne 42-20 in 18 (2.333 average).
