NEW YORK - Fifteen players in eight groups of eight are still unbeaten in the preliminaries of the 2012 Open Verhoeven in the Carom Cafe in New York. All favorites have gathered six matchpoints out of three matches.

Mazin Shooni and Wim van Cromvoirt are the leaders in Group A, Hugo Patino and Julian Morales are on top in Group B.

Eddy Leppens and Glenn Hoffman won their three matches in Group C, Roland Forthomme is the only unbeaten player in Group D.

Javier Terán, Song Lim and Alex Alzate battle with three for the main position in Group E. The American Pedro Piedrabuena, one of the players who's able to threaten the Europeans and Allan Jensen lead in Group F.

Sonny Cho and Andres Naranjo have six points out of three in Group G and the Pan-American champion Carlos Campino is the only leader in Group H.

The 64 players in each group in the preliminary rounds fight for two places. Raymond Ceulemans and Torbjörn Blomdahl are seeded for the final groups where twenty players battle for the victory.

The tournament ends at Sunday, August 5.
