Torbjörn Blomdahl defends his title in Malmö

The Swedish championship will be played from 19 until 21 of January

MALMÖ -  The Malmö Carambole Club, whose 28 members are the owners of the club with all of them their own key, is the organizer of the Swedish championship three-cushion from 19 to 21 January. Ten players, including title defender Torbjörn Blomdahl, Michael Nilsson, Lennart Blomdahl and David Pennör as best known players, are seeded. Two qualifying players will be seeded on 14th of January later.

Torbjörn Blomdahl grabbed the title against David Pennör last year. Michael Nilsson lost in the semifinals against the same Pennör. Blomdahl played the World championships for national teams in Viersen with Nalle Olsson last year. Mats Noren performed for the B-team with David Pennör.

The Malmö Carambole club in the Ystadvägen 44, is Sweden's largest billiard club with four match tables (two Gabriëls, one Zeki, one Søgaard). Players like Mats Noren, Michael Nilsson, Stefan Hilvin and Tay Quo Co belong or belonged in the past to the members of the club, which took the national team championship a few years ago.

Ten players were seeded for the championship, twenty players were acting in the qualifying matches. Of these, two will be added on January 14 to the ten, who will play in two groups.

Torbjörn Blomdahl is the leader of the first group before Nalle Ollson, Bjorn Lohmander, Stefan Hilvin, Tay Qou Co and a qualifying player.

In the other group Michael Nilsson is the highest seeded before David Pennör, Lennart Blomdahl, Peter Lohmander, Tran Moe Tai and a qualifying player.

The six players in each Group vie with each other in matches to forty caroms. The eight best go to quarterfinals, there they will play knock-out to three winning sets.
