Torbjörn Blomdahl tested his form for Medellin: 40 in 14 innings.

MAGDEBURG - The German league round, this weekend, was for Torbjörn Blomdahl a nice form test before he’s heading for the Medellin World Cup in Colombia. The Swede played a great match for Bergisch Gladbach and showed his confidence. Blomdahl was one of the best players in the eighth round with a match to 40 points against Dion Nelin in 14 innings: 40-17. However, on Saturday, the Swede lost to Thomas Andersen 40-34.

The German teams showed up for a double round: BCC Witten continues to lead, but with a small difference on its competitors.
The three leading teams made missteps on Saturday. BCC Witten stumbled over BA Bottrop in a home match: 6-2. Christian Rudolph and Dave van Geel were responsible for Bottrop’s third victory. GT Buer also lost the full profits in the away match against Sterkrade: Raspel, Liere and Van Erp were the winners.

Bergisch Gladbach could not benefit from these missteps. The title favorite played draw against Neustadt. Martin Horn was on his best in a strong match with 40 in 17 innings against Jörg Ikenmeyer.

Magdeburg and Velbert played 4-4. Dion Nelin and Henk Habraken played an excellent match, won by the Dane 40-32 in 17 innings. Markus Schönhoff took the tie for his team with a win over Torsten Anders.

The three leaders recovered on Sunday with victories: BCC Witten showed up with the maximum gain (8-0) against Sterkrade. Best players were Eddy Leppens in 18 and Stefan Galla in 20 innings. GT Buer kept the contact with the leader by a 6-2 victory over Bottrop. Jens Eggers impressed with a win over Christian Rudolph: 40-19 in 22 innings.

Bergisch Gladbach recorded the best team performance with two world class matches after the break (2-2). Torbjörn Blomdahl bested Dion Nelin in 14 innings (40-17) and Martin Horn (last week in Belgium 50 in 22 and on Saturday 40 in 17) defeated Markus Schönhoff 40-15 in 20 innings.

BCC Witten tops the list with a small margin in match points ahead of Bergisch Gladbach and GT Buer.
