Most of the time there is a full house in the casino in Blankenberge.

BLANKENBERGE - Roland Forthomme shared himself this evening in his match with Marco Janssen among the players in the second round in three cushion. He defeated his opponent 3-0 (15-3, 15-3, 15-5) and an average of 1.875. Thirteen players are known now for the best sixteen who will play the knock out in the following days. There were no surprises so far.

The thirteen players who are already in the last sixteen are Eddy Merckx, Marc Janssen, Francis Forton, Marc Celen, Peter de Backer, Frédéric Mottet, Marco Roothooft, Eddy Leppens, Peter Ceulemans, Davy van Havere, Martin Spoormans, Roland Forthomme and Frédéric Caudron.

Philippe Deraes and Eddy Leppens after two matches are the leaders in the free game. They played a draw tonight in three innings and both have three points in two matches. Patrick Niessen won his only match and has the maximum score.

Niessen also has optimal chances in balk line 47/2, in which discipline he won his first match. Deraes lost one point, Sonck two points.

Patrick Niessen was with four points in two matches the leader in balk line 47/1, but this evening Frédéric Caudron was too strong in nine innings, with a last run of 89. Eddy Leppens collected two points.

Frédéric Caudron is the big favourite in 71/2, after he defeated Patrick Niesen this afternoon with a final run of 116. Eddy Leppens has two points, he played two matches.

In one cushion only one match was played so far. Peter de Backer beat Eddy Leppens 150-137 in 14 innings.
