ANTALYA - The former European champion Murat Naci Coklu has made a curious start of the World Cup. He couldn't crosn his match with a victory. The Turk lost 2-1 against his compatriot Erkan Akti (15-12, 3-15, 15-10), despite two runs of ten and a better average: 1.850/1.650.

The Spaniard Carlos Crespo is the third player in this group.

Jean Reverchon and Jean van Erp fought an exciting battle, won by the Frenchman (15-13, 12-15, 15-11). Both players were fully matched in this game (1.615 Reverchon, 1.560 Van Erp).

Tayfun Tasdemir started with a loss in the first set against Umit Demircan (15-14), but recovered impressively, including a run of ten and a 15-2 score in the deciding set (2.095 general). Dave Christiani also started strong with a 2-0 win against Manuel Rui Costa and 2.000 average.
