CAIRO - The board of the UMB, the Union Mondiale de Billiard, and its members come together for the General Assembly on Friday 6th of October during the World championship three cushion in Cairo. The agenda includes a summary of the new developments in recent years and a look into the future. Two new candidates, one from Austria, one from Turkey, have been announced for the elections.
The current board, which consists of Farouk Barki, president, Fernando Requena, vice president and Rainer Selgrath, secretary general resigns and re-elects. The two new candidates are: Herbert Thuer, Austria and Ersan Ercan, Turkey. The board is automatically completed by the four confederation presidents and the appointed UMB Office manager.

On Friday October 5th, 2018 the General Assembly of the Union Mondiale de Billard will take place in Cairo, Egypt. We believe that this General Assembly will be a historical one, marked by the UMB achievements realized in the past two years and the projected progression for the coming four years.
The UMB Committee is proud that its efforts delivered the expected fruitful results. Not only financially but also promotionally.
The substantial financial support to the organizers of UMB World Cups and World championships, as well as the significant increase of the prize money for these events and the introduction of attractive invitational tournaments, with high level prize money, contributed enormously in the promotion of our sports.
For the first time, prize money was assigned to the World championship for ladies and professional training support for Juniors, by our Official training pogram director, Mr. José Maria Quetglas, was provided for the Confederations.
Never was the UMB sports calendar so nearly fully filled for the coming four years.
Never was the UMB financial income for sponsorship and media rights as high and with progressive expectations for the future.
The UMB Committee is confident that this positive development will be continued in the new election period of four years, reinforcing the UMB Board with two new candidates that, if elected, will be assigned appropriate tasks to operate in a team that is well synchronized, under the leadership of their President, Mr. Farouk Barki.
The General Assembly is the central point where the UMB Committee renders account for the developed policy in the past two years. For the first time in the history the UMB Committee will be able to develop a projection policy based on realistic objectives that are backed up by the existing sponsors and its partner Kozoom International.
The UMB board wishes that the support and collaboration received from the Confederations, Federations, Organizers and importantly the top-players will be continued and improved in the future.
We believe that this General Assembly will mark a new policy of financial health and well-balanced investments in our sports that most certainly will be of great influence and attractiveness for the new young generation of players to come.
Finally, we count on the continued trust and collaboration of all our Members, sponsors and specially our Partner, Kozoom International, to achieve our new objectives for the coming four years.
