Steven van Acker beats Raimond Burgman after a run of 16 from the spots

DEN HAAG/OOSTERHOUT/HOEVEN - Three of today's matches in the Buffalo League were crucial in the race for the play-off positions. Table leaders SIS Schoonmaak lost a point to Dallinga, mostly because of Steven van Acker's dream start. The Belgian ran 16 from the spots and defeated Raimond Burgman 40-29 in 19. In the chasing pack, L&B Ledermode - DPC ended in 4-4, and Team Eekhoorn beat A1 Biljarts 5-3. HCR Prinsen remained in 2nd position, after an 8-0 win over MCR.

Dick Jaspers, who was Saturday's  star in Germany with a 40 in 8 inning match, now won for Prinsen in 16 innings. The other high averages in the Buffalo League came from Javier Palazón, who beat Frans van Kuyk in 16 innings and David Martinez with a win over Dave Christiani: 40-35 in 18. Another top match was in the confrontation between L&B and DPC, where Eddy Merckx played  Nikos Polychronopoulos. The Greek came out on top: 40-37 in 23 innings.

Team Eekhoorn was the happiest team of the round, due to their hard fought 5-3 win over A1 Biljarts. Kurt Ceulemans edged Martien van der Spoel 40 - 38 in 42, to bring home the bacon. The only player to lose for Eekhoorn was Frans van Kuyk. In the first session, the tension was high when Jerry Hermans defeated  Addy Wienk 40-39 and Kay de Zwart drew with Jack Wijnen (40-40). Team Eekhoorn now climbs to third position, in a share with DPC. A1 Biljarts and L&B Ledermode are one point behind, with seven rounds still to play.

Gerwin Valentijn booked a win for L&B when he beat Martin Spoormans 40-26 in 21, Adnan Yüksel made his debut with a victory over Richard Bitalis: 40-26 in 22. Dick Jaspers only saw  Bert Hoefnagels in the rear view mirror: 40-9 in 16, Eddy Leppens cruised past Nick Loenen 40-17 in 25, Anno de Kleine beat  Brouwer 40-21 in 42 and Jelle Pijl got past Randy Loenen by 40 points to 18 in 26 innings.

Jean van Erp had one of his rare bad days, in the home game against Dallinga. Jean Paul de Bruijn had his opponent against the ropes from the start (15-2 and 28-8). Jean van Erp, losing for the fourth time this season, was at a loss for words.  ,,This was one of my worst matches in years. I was unlucky once or twice in the early innings, but I could not repair the damage at all.'' De Bruijn won it handily: 40-17 in 29. Jeffrey Jorissen (40-21 against  Bart Ceulemans in 25) and Herman van Daalen (40-28 against Berry Dallinga in 46) managed to win a single point for SIS Schoonmaak.

STZ Zundert visited 't Hartje and got beaten 5-3. It was 2-2 at halftime, in the second session Barry van Beers lost to Davy van Havere (40-32 in 30) and Roland Forthomme drew with Peter De Backer (40-40 in 26).

De Veemarkt and Bousema Lochem shared the points: 4-4. Dirk Weeremans was the best winner in this match, he used 37 innings to beat Sander Jonen 40-29. Martin Horn (Bousema) used two more innings to defeat Tolgahan Kiraz 40-37.

The top of the table after 15 rounds:
1 SIS Schoonmaak 26 punten
2 HCR Prinsen 23
3 DPC en Team Eekhoorn 17
5 A1 Biljarts en L&B Ledermode 16.
