Willy Gérimont conquers new title in France

Willy Gérimont, the titleholder in French 47/2, won the third and last tournament

SOISSONS - The reigning French champion Willy Gérimont has shown again that he is dominating the 47/2 balk-line level in Soissons this weekend. In the 3rd and last national tournament, he defeated ranking leader David Jacquet in the third and final national tournament in this discipline. Thanks to a run of 209, Gérimont won the match 250-105 in 2 innings.

The 40-year-old player, who is in charge of sporting events in his hometown Chartres, was already certainly qualified as the title holder for the French championship in Ronchin from 20-26 April. "I lost to David Jacquet in the first event this season and I couldn't play the second because of my Christmas holidays," Gérimont explained. David Jacquet remains the leader after three tournaments with a total of 144 points and 29,88 on average, Gérimont climbs to second place with 134 points and 48,93.

The winner, who played a new French record in one cushion at the end of last year, 17,50 overall average, beat in this event in Soissons first Hubert Mathez in 5 and Nicolas Gérassimopoulos in 7 innings, Frédéric Goubard in the quarterfinals, 250-24 in 5 and in the semi-final Xavier Le Roy, 250-120 in 3 innings.

The best statistics were for Gérimont with 52.27 overall, 125.00 as best match and the high run 209. It is the sixth tournament win of the Chartres player in 47/2 and the 14th in all disciplines.

Jean-François Florent finished 40,20 overall by victories over Rodolphe Pothet and Benoit Deziles-Legros in 5 and 8 in the qualifying, followed by Emmanuel Lefranc in 6 (run 176) and David Jacquet in 4 innings.

Xavier Le Roy and David Jacquet complete the podium with 22,00 and 30,70.
