LAS VEGAS - The World Cup tournament in Las Vegas is cancelled. The tournament would have been played 4th to 11th April. The news that the World Cup was cancelled, was announced by Hermano Scalas, organizer of the tournament. There have always been doubts about this World Cup from the moment the event was on the official calendar of the UMB.
The former president of the U.S. federation USBA and the current chairman Henry Ugartechea never could inform officials of the world federation definitly about the place where the World Cup would be organized. The organizer himself always has been very vague about the location.
The federation, nevertheless, send late last year a message that Las Vegas was finally at the calendar and that players could make their arrangment for Las Vegas.
The World Cup in Las Vegas would have been the second in the cycle this year. The Turkish city Trabzon will be the first from 14 to 20 February.
Hermano Salas from Las Vegas announced today in an official notice: ,,It is with great regret that I have to officially cancell the World Cup in Las Vegas. I want to take this opportunity to thank people for all their dedicated and encouraging words.
