World stars arrive in New York for famous tournament

Frédéric Caudron makes a tour in Mexico for Kimchi and arrives in New York in the coming days

NEW YORK - Two days before the start of the Verhoeven Open in New York, the famous former Sang Lee tournament, the first players have already arrived in Flushing. The wonderful billiard arena of the Carom Cafe prepares for the tournament that will be held from 1 until 6 August. Dick Jaspers defends the title he took in his tremendous style last year, Frédéric Caudron, Torbjörn Blomdahl, Eddy Merckx, Haeng Jik Kim, Tayfun Tasdemir, Pedro Piedrabuena, Martin Horn, Jae Ho Cho and Dong Koong Kang are his main rivals.

The Vietnamese Nguyen Quoc Nguyen and Tran Chien Quyet make their debut in the tournament and are already practicing in the Carom Cafe for a few days. Frédéric Caudron, the world's number one, made a Kimchi sponsor tour in Mexico last week, invited by the Campos brothers. Haeng Jik Kim, the Asian champion, is on his way to the Big Apple where other famous Koreans such as Jae Ho Cho and Dong Koong Kang make a bid for the title. The German Martin Horn, who no longer plays World Cups, is also among the participants.

The draw for the tournament is on Sunday at 19.00 US time, the tournament will start on Monday at 10.00. The games are broadcast live on Kozoom.com on ten tables.
