Louise Furberg (SWE)

Louise Furberg (SWE) has won her match over Eylul Kibaroglu (TUR) with 6:5 and proceeded to the loser’s round 2.

It was a tough day for Furberg today already. In her first match of the day, she faced Kristina Tkach (RUS) and quickly see that Tkach was advancing in the match while she could not go against her. Fur berg was already trailing 3:5 when she kind of got momentum and was able to turn the tide for a while and tie the match at 5:5. Being both on the hill, Tkach had the better ending and won with 6:5. Then Furberg had to go against Kibaroglu. The story of that match was completely the opposite. Here Furberg was the one leading 5:3 when she had to watch Kibaroglu pulling back rack after rack. Suddenly, Furberg found herself again in a hill-hill match. This time, she really wanted the victory and stay alive in the women’s 8-ball individuals. She broke the balls and had an open but not an easy table in front of her. But she mastered it quite impressively and ran out the rack in order to win the match with 6:5 this time. Furberg will be up next against Bernadett Tuboly-Toth (HUN). Furberg’s teammate, defending Champion Caroline Roos (SWE) is also on th loser’s side. She lost her first match to Melanie Suessenguth (GER) 4:6. Veronika Ivanovskaia (GER) defeated Anna Mazhirina (RUS) with 6:4.

In the men’s 8-ball individuals, Balasz Miko (HUN) won 8:5 against Albin Ouschan (AUT) in the first winners round. After winning the straight pool Gold Medal and title this week, Ouschan is searching for his top level game. In the same round, Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) smashed Fabio Petroni (ITA) 8:2. Both players are equally good but Chinakhov got momentum first today and then it is almost impossible to stop „The Siberian Express“. Joshua Filler (GER) made short work of Andreas Madsen (DEN) and finished him 8:1 after 33 minutes only!

In the wheelchair division of the 8-ball individuals, defending Champion Fred Dinsmore (IRL) got the better of all-time rival Jouni Tahti (FIN) and won the first winner’s round match 5:4. The all-British clash was also won 5:4 by Daniel Lee over Tony Southern. Kurt Deklerck (BEL) had smooth sailing in his first match defeating Danijel Savic (AUT) 5:0.
