Foos around the world: USA

Cissi Whipple with Tracy McMillin at WC 2010

My name is Cissi Whipple. I live in the United States of America. I started playing table-soccer when I was 9 years old. I am a former World Champion, ranked an Expert in the U.S. (they have just recently reset the points) and a Former State and Regional Champion in the United States on Tornado. I was the Assistant Coach to the World Cup Team in 2009, and was a member and Captain of the Womens World Cup Team 2010. I have just finished running the First Fireball International Tournament (ITSF sanctioned) with Dennis Jaing of Fireball being my sponsor. It was in San Jose, Costa Rica. It was also the countries FIRST professional tour event in its history. I was also told I am the first woman to ever be the tournament director of a major event on foreign soil. I am also a nominee for the Texas Legand Award this year.

The most common table in my county is Tornado and yes, I love the tornado table. I also like the Fireball table very much. A typical table-soccer evening for me is either a local tournament or getting with the guys to play. I am the only woman in my area. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas. Foosball is played everywhere in my country and there is always a table wherever I travel. I have not been to a city that you could not find a table.

In my area, I organized the tourneys myself. I am on the Board of Directors of the USTSF as well as Regional Director for Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Alaska. There are hundreds of players in Corpus Christi but only a few have been on the Pro Tour. There are a lot of promoters in the U.S., each promote their region. As far as participants, it varies on the tournament and location and also on finances of the players, but there are always 100 players easily. I feel table-soccer is growing all over the world. Table-soccer has a great reputation in the USA.

And of course, a delegation from the USA will be attending the World Cup 2012. I would like to add that I am very proud of my team mates and I will be looking forward to seeing a 4th World Cup title for the USA! Thank you to Farid for everything he has done for foosball!

P.S.:  I would like to thank my staff for their support in Costa Rica: Tom Yore, Leslie Yore, Mike Yore, Natasha Krause, Mark Brubaker, Dan Barber and Jerry Todd for donating their time and effort to this tournament and our sport. You are true ambassadors to the world of table-soccer. Also thank you to futbolmesa for everything. Leo Aramador was the promoter. This was a giant step for Costa Rica! PURA VIDA! Congrats to Tony Spredman!
