5th Survival Masters to a final field with 32 players

SEOUL - The fifth Survival 3-Cushion Masters, which follows the first in Europe (Istanbul), will be played from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 September with 32 instead of 24 players. The top 20 in the world is supplemented with four wildcards. In addition, 104 Korean players meet in preliminary rounds for eight places in the main tournament. Eddy Merckx was the last winner in Istanbul, Therese Klompenhouwer is one of the four wildcards for the lucrative tournament with a total prize pool of $ 258,600.

Two days of preliminaries with 104 players in the Emblem Billiards Club at Nexen University in Magok-dong are the prelude to the main tournament. The first five tournaments were completed with 24 players. The organization is in the hands of Kozoom with the cooperation of the UMB, world federation, and the Korean billiards federation.

The total of 128 players, 24 of which are automatically placed, is divided into 89 Korean players, four ladies, four juniors and seven wildcards of the Seoul billiard federation for the preliminary rounds. According to organizer Kozoom, the Survival Masters was previously only for top players. The interest was so great that it was decided to further expand the access.

Martin Horn is missing due to a bicycle accident. Therese Klompenhouwer makes her debut in a Survival Masters: "I am very happy with it and hope that I can hurt the world top a bit."

The tournament starts on Thursday, September 19, with games from 12:00 to 22:00 (Korean time). The sequel is on Friday with the remainder of the qualifications and the second chance matehes. On Saturday the quarterfinals are at 4 p.m. On Sunday the semi-finals are at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., the final is at 10 p.m.
