VIERSEN - Without the Swedish royal couple, one of the favorites for the title, but with Austria, that outplayed the multiple champion, the World championships in Viersen is ready for the final qualification rounds. Arnim Kahofer was the bogeyman for Sweden: he signed for the elimination.

Torbjörn Blomdahl played out of his skin in the match against Andreas Efler and tried everything to keep his team in the tournament. The number one of the world overpowered his helpless opponent, led 24-3 in four innings to finish 30-6 in eight.

From that moment, the pressure was on for Michael Nilsson, who could not afford any misstep after Sweden’s loss against Ecuador in the first encounter.

The all-rounder Arnim Kahofer sprinted to victory with a run of six in his last inning when he was trailing 25-24.

Netherlands A, Denmark and Turkey qualified in the evening together with Austria for the quarterfinals. Murat Naci Coklu played a main role for Turkey with a match in ten innings in which he overwhelmed Vietnamese Ngo.

The Netherlands defeated Japan 4-0 by victories of Dick Jaspers against Takeshima (30-24) and Raimond Burgman, who won 30-18 vs. Arai.

Tonny Carlsen was one of the big guns after two days of qualification. The Danish veteran first defeated Jérémy Bury 30-18 in 13 innings (2.307) and finished his second match against Jean Paul de Bruijn again in thirteen innings.

The matches for tomorrow:
11.00: Germany A-Switzerland
